Nancy Kains, Lake Steward and Education Committee

Nancy grew up on a farm outside Stratford in Perth County where she walked to a one-room school called Brocksden. It’s the oldest country school in Perth County and is now a museum. After high school, she attended Stratford Teacher's College. After teaching in Oxford County for a few years, she farmed in Waterloo County and then Grey County where she also continued to teach. She took the students from her last class to Brocksden and the Teacher's College as an outing before she retired.

She and her husband Dave continued the northern trek to Manitoulin to get closer to water. They have renovated their cottage on Cannards Lane and continue to garden, do bush work, go fishing and hunting. Nancy is also a quilter.
